Away Days
Twice a year, West Wirral Walks offers guided walking packages to locations further afield, usually to Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The Away Day visits 2009/2010 are to Moel Famau Country Park, Mold, North Wales.
This 3 hour walk takes in some absolutely magnificent scenery and although not going to the Jubillee Tower ruins, does climb quite high and as such is a walk suitable for those who are not restricted physically or individuals who medically are advised not to raise heart rate too significantly.
Included in the price package is a picnic lunch, tea, coffee or bottled water at the half way point and return transport from the Seven Stars pub, Thornton Hough.
This walk is probably my favourite route of all the available Away Days, being beautiful in surroundings as well as good underfoot the entire way round. It is also extremely safe, so safe in fact, that at no point do walkers have to follow any off-track terrain or come into contact with precipice or ridge based walking. Comfortable walking boots and appropriate waterproof clothing, (just in case), are the only requirements for what I am sure will be a fantastic walking experience.
